SANDY - Four familiar names, including Craig Barlow and Boyd Summerhays, have been given exempt status for the upcoming 2008 Utah Championship, a Nationwide Tour event scheduled for the first week of September at Willow Creek Country Club.
Also, 21 of the top 25 money-makers on the tour have already committed to play for more than the $99,000 winner's share of the half-million dollar prize money.
The top 25 money winners on the Nationwide Tour qualify for the PGA Tour.
Bobby Clampett, who covers the PGA for CBS Sports, and Clay Odgen also received exemptions for the Utah Championship, while 14 added spots will be determined by a qualifier on Sept. 2.
"The fact that we're able to attract such great players to come compete in our event is a real testament to the success and popularity of this tournament among professional golfers," tournament director Mike Smith said. "Clay and Boyd will give local fans something to get excited about. Bobby and Craig bring with them some impressive PGA Tour experience."
Clampett, winner of the 1982 Southern Open, was a three-time All-America at BYU before turning pro in 1980.
Barlow, with $4.9 million in winnings on the PGA Tour, has competed in 14 PGA events in 2008, with a best finished of 23rd in the Zurich Classic.
Summerhays, a Farmington native, is the nephew of Bruce Summerhays, who plays on the Champions Tour.
