YOUTH
TOURNAMENT: As part of this year's Envirocare Utah
Classic, scheduled for Sept. 1-7 at Willow Creek Country
Club, a Youth Exhibition Golf Tournament featuring 18 professionals
and 72 local youth golfers will be played on Sept. 6 at River Oaks
Golf Course in Sandy.
The 72 youth golfers, which will include 18 local girls, have been
qualifying for the event the past season through events sponsored
by the Utah Junior Golf Association, the Utah Section of the PGA,
and the Salt Lake County Junior Golf program. They range in age
from high school all-stars to 12 and under.
The 18 professional golfers will be determined following the second
round of the Energy Solutions Utah Classic from those failing to qualify
for the final two rounds. The tournament is being sponsored by America
First Credit Union and Content Watch, Inc.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our local youth
golfers to play with a potential future star of the PGA Tour and
benefit from his expertise and experience," said Evan Byers,
executive tournament director. "The support of America First
and Content Watch, Inc. in allowing us to put on this youth exhibition
is vital to our tournament's goal of giving back to the community
and making a difference in the lives of our youth."
Volunteers are still needed for the event, and those interested
should contact 495-4653 or visit www.utahclassic.com.
